Out of no where, my family and I agreed that I should apply to Texas A&M-Kingsville for my Masters. (My parents met and got all their degrees from there.) I started the application, with the intention of stopping for a break, and accidentally plowed right through it.

The GRE center couldn't find my scores, but it turns out that I had all ready sent them to TAMUK in January. Even though my GRE was low, my GPA was high enough to make me qualify for unconditional admittance.

!!!

Classes start January 20th.

History and Politics.

I feel old and sedentary.

I feel irresponsible and lazy.

I'm going to break this cycle.

And my period blood is magical.

I'm not political, I just care about people

I voted for Obama because a lot of his views echoed the sentiment in my heart. Before he announced his run for the Oval Office, I read about him in Time and other publications. Something in me knew that he would somehow... save this country. I kept an eye on the controversies that surrounded his candidacy, and still something in my heart agreed with everything he said. ((Which is weird, because I'm very harsh and nit-picking with politicians. Can you say 2006 Gubernatorial Race? I still HATE Chris Bell.))

When he was elected, my soul REJOICED! I cried, and was in complete disbelief. To this day, that same joy pops up ever-so-often, when I realize what he's doing. Especially in foreign affairs. ((This is also the first time I've supported a war - but that's because it's not against a state, and we're ACTIVELY working on a global level to reconstruct it and undo our Charlie Wilson's War damage.))

I don't understand why people distrust him, but on some level can sympathize. They aren't informed and are going blindly on emotion (I am too - but politics is a hobby, so I TRY to stay informed). So... I'm now looking for common ground. No more screaming matches with Conservatives - it doesn't help anyone.

Now... I'm looking for a bridge.

This bridge building technique has got me puzzled about the Health Care debate, though. People don't want others to be healthy and happy and... alive? Apparently, there's some stupid rumor in Conservative Christian media that it would fund and support abortions. Somehow... this argument seems counter intuitive.

What about love?
Caring for the poor?
Providing for the have-nots?
If many of us are have-nots, why not put our pennies together and lift each other up?

What it has boiled down to is the Conservative Christians have forgotten these basic pillars. Maybe it's time to do something about it.

Guess what song was #1?

MY GIRLS BY ANIMAL COLLECTIVE!

That was... like my defining song of the first part of 2009.

The second one is The Walkmen... I forget what it's called. Sofia's Place??

Yeah...
